about the project
ACTUS REUS is a 75-minute theatrical performance work supported by the 2024 MAP Fund Grant Cycle. It is the creation of an ensemble of trans, queer, and working-class artists. The piece is a symbiosis of movement, sound, and brutalist design used to confront the cannibalistic logic of capitalism. Through the lens of a dystopian, surreal aesthetic, ACTUS REUS literalizes the violence of class struggle and asks:
When our survival demands that we consume each other, what remains of our humanity?
The project is currently in development for a Spring 2026 premiere in New York City.
about us
We love theatre, but we don't always like it.
We ardently feel that 'The American Theatre' is in dire need of practitioners that are committed to a shift in popular storytelling...
Particularly, we're interested in what stories are being told,
how they're being told,
who's telling them,
and most importantly - who is receiving the story?
For us, it's about intentionality from the ground-up.
That's how great stories are forged.
Through rigor, sincerity, and integrity.
We're committed to that kind of shift.
Glad you're here~
